In recent years Intermittent Calorie Restriction also known as Intermittent Fasting has become a popular method to lose weight for individuals struggling with overweight and obesity. Even those with normal weight have started using Intermittent Fasting in the hopes of improving their overall health and for better aging. At Metta Weight Management, weight loss clinic in NJ, we use science and evidence to guide our recommendation. So, what do we know so far about the effectiveness of Intermittent Fasting? Review of six studies that compared Intermittent Fasting to conventional diets showed no difference between Intermittent Fasting and conventional diets for weight loss. Intermittent Fasting works just as good as conventional diet in delivering weight loss. Only one study showed greater body fat loss. Most important of all, the long-term benefits and harm of Intermittent Fasting overall health (blood sugar, metabolism, aging) is currently unknown.
